Hi All,
I am sure, like me, you sometimes wonder why the youth are not taking this pandemic as seriously as some. Unfortunately, we need to face the fact, unlike HIV/AIDS for example, Covid-19 is really an old person’s pandemic. I know you are just about to reply that many young folk have tested positive but hear me out.
Older people have the wear and tear of all those years (and misspent youths) on their bodies (some resulting in co-morbidities). Thus, if you contract the disease the chance of serious health issues is at least an order of magnitude higher than for Millennials;
Older people have more to lose from the economic impact as we have a greater % of accumulated wealth, moreover, we have fewer years in which to regain or re-earn the lost savings;
Older people will be less able to adapt to the new societal norms stemming from this pandemic, let alone embrace them.
So we should actually thank the young folk, as they are the ones who are really making sacrifices for our sake.
Cheers
Cliff
