Thought of the Day - December 10 2021 - Christmas Parties

Hey, we are now well into December. Instead of the traditional time for holiday parties with family and friends, this has become the season for firing our politicians. If you recall last year COVID produced a bumper crop ( Thought of the Day - January 4 - How COVID Changed Politics ). And as we go into our second year-end with COVID it looks like this year will be just as exciting.

As you have probably seen, the UK is now gripped with its latest scandal dubbed "Christmas Gate". It is alleged that while people across the country were being arrested for contravening lockdown rules last year, there were parties going on at No. 10 Downing Street.
Right here in BC, Ministry of Health staff are denying that health researchers were promised rapid antigen tests to screen for COVID-19 at their Christmas party, even though CTV has a copy of the memo outlining the plan.
It is amazing to see how our leaders and civil servants still seem to have a problem adopting a "Practice what you preach" approach, especially while under extra COVID scrutiny. Instead, a number still prefer the first and second rules of Fight Club ("You do not talk about Fight Club! ") or "It's okay, just don't get caught".
The US has their very own hypocrisy tracker https://datavisualizations.heritage.org/public-health/covid-hypocrisy-policymakers-breaking-their-own-rules/ ), it would be great to have something similar.
The season is just starting, I just can't wait to see what we get this year for Christmas.
Cheers
Cliff
