On a regular basis, Robert Burns day ( Thought of the Day - January 25 - An Ode to Burns ) and Chinese New Year festivities overlap. Thus pipers and dragons can both be seen in the annual Chinatown Spring Festival Parade.

Here in Vancouver, there is also a celebration titled Gung Haggis Fat Choy, where fusion delicacies such as Haggis & shrimp wonton dumplings, Lo-Bak-Goh turnip cake, or Haggis & pork shu-mei dumplings are served.

Sorry, the event was not held this year, like the annual parade, a victim of COVID. There was however an on-line Lunar New Year countdown event yesterday.

Here we are starting the year of the Ox - so remember to watch the "quiet ones".
