Thought of the Day - January 31 2022 - Trucker Protest

Like many Canadians, I have tried to stay away from this topic but the truth of the matter is no matter how much the media has tried to downplay it the Trucker's Vaccine Mandate Protest is real and it is here to stay.

It is ironic that most of the useful information concerning the reasons and developments comes from news agencies outside of Canada. Most of the coverage by mainstream media in Canada is of fringe happenings, rather than thoughtful investigative reporting.

For example the defacing of Burnaby's own Terry Fox memorial statue. Oh sorry, wrong desecration. It is sad to see our media is actually adding fuel to the fire.

I guess my thinking is:

1. Protests have been happening around the world concerning COVID restrictions for well over a year now. Actually, I have been surprised how few Canada has seen.

2. I am not surprised that there is now a much greater level of protest concerning Canada's escalating restrictions that are now doing more harm than good.

3. The dismissive nature of this protest means, unfortunately, this will now escalate to the detriment of all.

4. Without concrete action in the short term, hopefully a plan to wind down restrictions more than police action, this is going to get ugly.

There should be a better way to bring about a spring reset than this.
