Thought of the Day - June 16 2021 - Ready for the Roaring 20s!

Updated: Aug 8, 2021

One thing that we continue to forget to do is to learn from the lessons of the past.

As we have talked about before, taking a quick look back a hundred years would have been far easier than needing to relearn their pandemic lessons the hard way ( Thought of the Day - August 11 - History Repeats Itself ). Lessons that included the wearing of masks, lessons concerning social distancing and fresh air etc. But, hey, it is human nature, nay it is the human condition, to learn anew in our lifetime.

So what else can we learn from the pandemic a hundred years in the past? Well, don't forget, it plus the end of the Great War, ushered in the "roaring 20s". And given the current indicators such as: luxury goods consumption, investment affluence, massive government spending, active rights movements, technological innovation, commodity shortages, the resurgence of arts and entertainment, and the overall expectation we will again "live life to the full" in the western world once COVID is behind us, there is no reason to expect the same will not happen in this coming decade.

My message today is not to chastise those of you who are now champing at the bit to once-again live life large, it is to inspire those of you who would profit (intellectually, financially and spiritually) by taking advantage of this coming wave; remember, a hundred years ago, the affluence and opportunity of the 20s did not roar for all.

Humm, I just wonder what form modern-day prohibition take . . .

Cheers

Cliff
