Now I have your attention, I will apologize in advance. My aim is, if nothing else, is that this blog might, just might, save a life.
If you did not get out in the sun today, or did not take a Vitamin D tablet today - you are stupid risk taker.
I have touched on this twice now ( Thought of the Day - September 30 - Vitamin D Does Help ), and while I do not want to "flog-a-dead-horse" so to speak, studies continue to roll in. And what do they say: most hospitalized patients with COVID-19 have a Vitamin D deficiency; the latest study from Spain puts the figure at 80%.
People, I know the drug industry does not want you to know this but sufficient Vitamin D may have a greater effect on seasonal flu prevention than the flu-shot. But whether you believe me one not, what have you got to lose? It will cost you less than $20 to supply your family for the winter season, and, and, provided you take one or two a day there are no side-effects - your body excretes the excess - thus the reason to get Vitamin D regularly.
So, especially if you have a loved one that is locked-down in a care home, please make sure they are getting sufficient Vitamin D. Remember, there are no cures for COVID-19, so make sure vulnerable members of your family at least have a fighting chance.
Cheers
Cliff

By George the UK has got it! They are now providing Vitamin D for free to their citizens, hopefully Canada will rapidly follow suit.
