Cases across Canada continue to rise, indeed we are reporting 50% more new cases than just two weeks ago.

Quebec is the biggest contributor, with close to triple the Canadian average.
Because of this increase in cases. Death have also increase almost up 150% from two weeks ago. But this trend is common elsewhere. Thus while Canada is on the wrong side of the chart the rate of increase is now far less than many other countries.

With the number of new cases outstripping fatalities, Canada's Case Fatality Rate continues to improve. It has now caught up with Sweden. Canada has also finally managed to drop off the top 20 list of fatalities per million people.

But we still need to be vigilant. We are doing far better than the Americas overall but still have more in common with the European track record than Asia.
Looking at Canadian cases by age and sex, a significant proportion of those testing positive are younger.

However fatalities remain with older people. And while women make up close to 65% of the fatalities in those over 80, there are far fewer men of this age.

Looking at the recent number here in BC. The graphs say it all.

This week the shout out goes to Nova Scotia. They were the weak link early in the Atlantic Bubble, moving rapidly to 1,050 cases and 60 deaths by mid-May. But they are still under 1,100 today. They have had less than 10 cases and no deaths over the past month. Almost all recent cases, including the three new ones announced at the end of last week, were connected to travellers from outside Canada.
Cheers
