Thought of the Day - September 29 2021 - Welcome to the Matrix

As a few of you 'geeks' out there may have heard, there is a new Matrix movie coming out in the not-too-distant future. This will be the fourth installment. I think I saw 2 and 3 at some point but I am not too sure. What I am sure of is, I saw The Matrix. What I am sure of is, that it was a fantastic movie.

The Matrix drew upon elements from BC's own prodigal son, the brilliant writer William Gibson. Gibson's cyberpunk writing in the 80's also inspired epics like: Escape from New York, Johnny Mnemonic, and a host of other "futuristic" works. But I digress.

There is an infamous scene in The Matrix where Morpheus presents Neo with two options: "You take the blue pill ... the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill ... you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

The point of this 'Thought of the Day' is to highlight the more the COVID pandemic progresses the more 'Matrix issues' surface.

Here are just a few that we have talked about over the past eighteen months.

I do not profess to know which pill you should take, just suggest that you keep your mind open, as both have merit.

What I do know is that William Gibson was not a scientist, he did not profess to write science fiction, he just had a distinct talent to differentiate between real trends and real bullshit, thus he managed to provide us with a real glimpse of where the world was going.

All I know is we really need more like him.
