Am skipping the usual Sunday "By The Numbers" to give you an update on what we observed while sailing the south coast of Vancouver Island.

First, thanks for asking, we had a great trip. The warm sunny skies made for perfect cruising, even when the wind and occasional fog impeded our travel.
The waterways and marinas were far less busy than expected, thus we got to dock in front of the Empress in Victoria Harbour on a weekend with very little advanced booking.
We encountered a variety of reactions on our travels: from marinas welcoming us in, places that are seemingly abandoned, marinas with significant social distancing instruction, to Oak Bay (just north of Victoria) who said they take in no non-Island travellers.
One of the biggest surprises was to see that the Canadian Authorities were out in force: BC Parks, Canadian Coast Guard and the Mounties were all on the water, searching for US interlopers. Indeed in Sidney, we believe we saw an impounded sloop with California livery. The concern from the general public has been received!
Cheers
Cliff
