We are pausing our regularly scheduled broadcast to bring you this special bulletin: Blogger realizes he sometimes forgets the "Neighbourhood" part of this blog.
Today was a special day. Sure, the sun was shining, it was warm for January, and oh, other than the hum of a couple of generators, the neighbourhood was particularly quiet. Due to last night's storm, the power went out in our tree-lined neighbourhood just after midnight. Morning broke and the first update came from BC Hydro that a crew had been dispatched - meaning: it might be a while. And, the first note arrived on the Neighbourhood Group-chat: "Happy Wednesday! Just checking if anyone needs help during the outage! We are back to the 🕯️ age". And so the day went, with regular discussion: whether the elementary school around the corner was open; had anyone seen an ETA update; talk of an evening bonfire, etc.
Around here anyway, one of the positive things to come out of all this mess is a greater sense of community. I hope you are finding the same thing too. Thanks neighbours!
Cheers
Cliff
