Thought of the Day - July 20 2021 - Survivor and Lockdown

Promotions read: Survivor is back - in time for lockdown!

Yes, it's true, Survivor's new season is back on the air, just as the Land-Down-Under goes into lockdown - Gottcha'.

Call me old-fashioned, but for my money, Aussie Survivor is the most entertaining of the current franchises, due, in part, to less preoccupation with political correctness and continued focus on aggressive challenges. This year it is being held domestically, so forget the idyllic settings it should instead be full Mad Max. And with half of the Australian population now back in lockdown (SA joined NSW and Victoria), I am sure Survivor will receive plenty of home viewers.

Meanwhile, in the USofA, Survivor will also be back starting in September.

But could Jonathan LaPaglia's 2021 series be a harbinger for Jeff Probst? Will some US states be locking down again in two months? With the border opening up on August 9th for Canada's sake, I sure hope not.

In the same vein, Survivor South Africa also launched their latest series in July. The show ‘Survivor SA’ gave a much needed R10-million boost to the Wild Coast’s economy. With the current lockdown issues in the country, COVID and other, hopefully the show will provide a much-needed distraction.
