Thought of the Day - June 14 - By The Numbers

Canada (and BC) continued to decrease the number of new cases, under 4,000 (under 50), and deaths, under 300 (just one) in the past week.

Quebec is starting to turn the corner. While in the last week they still had the highest mortality rate in Canada, we have to remember this is a lagging indicator.

Quebec's new cases per capita are now much closer to Ontario, the second most challenged Province.

You will also note, at long last, Quebec's Case Fatality Rate (deaths/cases) and Outcome Fatality Rate (deaths/(deaths+recovered)) are starting to converge at little.

One of the stories from last week, as Nova Scotia continued to improve (they even fixed their numbers agreeing the three people still in hospital were not recovered), PEI and Newfoundland & Labrador continued with no new cases, and discussions of an Atlantic Province-wide bubble continued. Unfortunately, there were new outbreaks and death in New Brunswick (moreover the associated scandal is not helping front-line workers in the Campbellton area) that will set this back.

This week, a shout-out goes out to Quebec. Let's hope they continue to implement the required measures and turn this around.
Cheers
Cliff
