Like many in Canada with time on their hands, I have started growing a garden. The dream is that you can turn your hand to anything and that fresh vegetables are just a few weeks away. After the seeds, and the fertilizer, and the manual labour, the joy begins to wane and you realize how difficult it would be self-sufficient. Indeed, sometime back, Marv was kind enough to regale me with the story of how his grandfather came to Canada to farm, and spend his first winter living on little but turnip.

John Travolta's infamous lines in Pulp Fiction come to mind. When Mrs. "Marsellus" Wallace orders a Five-Dollar Shake:
"Did you just order a five-dollar shake?
"A shake? Milk and ice cream? It costs five dollars?"
"Can I have a sip of that? I'd like to know what a five-dollar shake tastes like"
"That's a pretty f'n good milkshake. I don't know if it is worth $5, but it's pretty f'n good"
Well when you manage to grow it yourself, it's worth every penny.
Cheers
Cliff
