Thought of the Day - May 3 - By the Numbers

Hi All,
Canada continues to add a little over 10,000 Cases a week.

BC's Active Case count is still about the same with recoveries equalling new cases.

Looking across the country, below is a comparison of the sheer numbers that each Province is dealing with. Although Quebec is the second-largest Province they still have a disproportionate amount of cases.

But of course, the number of "official" cases is also influenced by the volume (as well as their effectiveness) of testing, as people with less serious symptoms can get tested. Here Alberta probably has the lead, conducting twice as many tests per capita as BC.

Ultimately a clear measure of success is how effectively cases are handled to avoid fatalities. Here there is a clear divide, with Quebec and Ontario (and the USA Average) all worse off than BC (and we got off to a bad start) and with the rest of the Provinces doing significantly better.

Thus Quebec is now seeing significant mortality, way above the other Provinces.

But it is not all bad news. This week New Brunswick deserves a second shout-out. As well as no deaths, and no new reported cases, they now have no active cases at all; all of their 118 folk diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered!
Cheers
Cliff
