Vanuatu, probably best known for hosting a season of the US Survivor reality series way back in 2004, just got its first COVID-19 case; ironically a man returning from the US. He was asymptomatic, but tested positive while in quarantine, thus, hopefully, curbing a spread.
The list of island-countries unscathed by COVID-19 infections continues to get shorter. WorldOMeters along with Wikipedia are the main sites people are referencing concerning COVID numbers around the world. WorldOMeters' country listings are based on the United Nations Geoscheme. Comparing their list of locations that have had cases with those on the Geoscheme list you need to look far-and-wide to find the residual.
Two months ago the COVID-Free list included:
Countries and Regions
Kiribati
Marshall Islands
Micronesia
Nauru
Palau
Samoa
Solomon Islands
Tonga
Tuvalu
Vanuatu
North Korea and Turkmenistan have never reported
Dependant Territories
Christmas Island
Cocos (Keeling) Islands
Cook Islands
Niue
Norfolk Island
Pitcairn Islands
Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
Svalbard and Jan Mayen
Tokelau
Wallis and Futuna
Those highlighted in red have since lost their "COVID Virgin" status. And sorry to say, Nunavut, the remaining Canadian COVID-Free territory, has now also confirmed its first case.
If you are looking for a geography exercise to do with your children, can I suggest you try to locate these isolated remaining "paradises".
Cheers
Cliff

Sad about Nunavut. Happy Birthday Cliff! :)
