Thought of the Day - September 18 - Alberta Bound

Updated: Aug 6, 2021

Earlier this week I enjoyed the privilege of travelling to Alberta. Traffic was fairly light (there was almost no one in Banff), but the smoke followed me all the way to the Alberta border. I tried to do it in a reasonably responsible way - car camping along the way, visiting only one friend in Calgary (I lie I did have dinner with two more).

It was a good chance to compare notes. I realize that much of the writing in this blog is about how we are doing compared to others (as there are no real absolutes). In the case of Alberta, they have been ahead of the curve in responding to COVID in comparison to BC (PPE supply, app development etc.) yet, have fared no better. The great realization for me, minor regional differences aside, actually we are all in the same boat: trying to carry on normal life, worried about the financial impact, have mixed feelings about how we are handling the pandemic and bemused by stories from other countries. Moreover, very glad we live in Canada.

Cheers

Cliff
