Wow someone in the "western world" finally had the guts to say it: "The French government will recommend that people wear surgical masks in public because fabric masks do not provide enough protection from COVID-19 transmission", Health Minister Olivier Veran said yesterday.
Don't get me wrong there are significant upsides to the medical system driving the pandemic response but, as many of you know, my three main beefs are:
the tragedy in our care-homes (which are largely outside the medical system purview - Thought of the Day - November 27 - Human Rights in Belgium );
that only high-cost therapeutics are being considered (e.g. Vitamin-D is also outside the medical system purview - Thought of the Day - November 5 - Are You A Stupid Risk Taker );
the residual early-day fear that the general public will steal all the surgical masks ( Thought of the Day - September 11 - Masks Re-revisted ).

While I don't hold much hope - we can at least wish that Canada, or maybe Québec, will put the "non-surgical mask" rhetoric behind us, so we can focus on the real issue - making sure it fits.
Cheers
Cliff
