Thought of the Day - July 1 - Canada Day!

Updated: Aug 8, 2021

Whoop, Whoop.

Hey neighbours, I figure I would also give you a heads-up of what is going on in our neck-of-the-woods by way of the Blog.

While a few events are being held by cities in greater Vancouver, most events are going virtual.

The PNE will hold what it calls a "reverse parade", meaning spectators will drive their vehicles along the parade route. Sights include live performances, logger sports, a celebration of hockey and fair food, and guests are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and dress up in red and white. Those who want to buy food must pay in advance, and the experience itself is $10 per car.

In Port Coquitlam, there is the Firefighters Drive-through BBQ from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Firehall #1 – 1725 Broadway Street, an annual fundraiser for the Port Coquitlam Professional Firefighters Charitable Society ($10 for a burger, chips and drink).

Communities that are hosting virtual Canada Day events online in 2020 include: Abbotsford, Coquitlam, Fort Langley, Maple Ridge, Mission, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, Vancouver and White Rock.

Burnaby took a more pragmatic approach this year and cancelled all venues.

In case you did not know, BC is now allowing gatherings of fifty. Not wanting to miss out, Lesley is having a bit of a "Garden Get Together" at our place to celebrate Canada Day. Now I have your attention, I can let you know she will not be having fifty. Gail and I will of course will be "buggering off" for the day - so good luck.

Finally, another month has flown by, so check out the month in review on the timeline: https://clifffraser0.wixsite.com/covid-19/timeline-all.

Oh, and Happy Canada Day!

Cheers

Cliff
