As I am sure you have all heard tomorrow, July 1st, Canada Day, we move to Step 3 of the restart plan here in BC.
We met the three criteria:
We are at 78% of the 18+ population (69% of the total population in BC) as having had their first vaccination dose. This exceeds the 70% requirement;
Low case counts - there were no figures associated with this, but new cases in Canada have declined by 50% in the last two weeks, and BC remains below the Canadian average;
Declining COVID-19 hospitalizations. Hospitalizations, while up 1% this week, have been declining for the past two months.

So what does Step 3 mean?
Mask guidance
The mask mandate order under the Emergency Program Act will be lifted July 1 and no proof of vaccination will be needed;
Masks are recommended in public indoor settings for all people over the age of twelve who are not yet fully vaccinated;
Some people may choose to continue to wear a mask after they're fully vaccinated (and BC says "that's okay").
Activities - New things you can do
Personal gatherings
Return to normal for indoor and outdoor personal gatherings;
Sleepovers.
Organized gatherings
Indoor organized gatherings 50 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater;
Outdoor organized gatherings 5,000 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater;
No capacity limits or restrictions on religious gatherings and worship services;
Fairs, festivals and trade shows return to normal with a Communicable Disease Plan.
Travel
Canada-wide recreational travel (not sure what this means as it also requires a corresponding reopening agreement at the destination location - but it does mean all Canadians can travel to BC).
Businesses
Restaurants, bars and pubs
No group limits for indoor and outdoor dining - events allowed;
Return to normal liquor service hours;
However, no socializing between tables.
Nightclubs
Up to 10 people seated at tables, tables 2m apart;
No dancing, no socializing between tables.
Casinos
Open with reduced capacity;
Gaming stations can operate at approximately 50% capacity.
Offices and workplaces
Continued return to the workplace;
Seminars and bigger meetings allowed.
Sports and exercise
All indoor fitness classes allowed, normal capacity;
Gyms and recreation facilities, normal capacity;
Spectators, see organized gatherings.
Happy Stepping.
Cheers
Cliff
