Thought of the Day - November 1 2021 - The Smoking Gun

US National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently acknowledged that the US has funded gain-of-function (GOF) coronavirus research at Wuhan lab - despite Fauci’s repeated denials. Gain-of-function research involves extracting viruses from animals and artificially engineering them in a laboratory to make them more transmissible and deadly.

A report now states that the laboratory mice infected with the modified bat virus "became sicker" than the mice given the unmodified bat virus (I guess this would be called a successful GOF). Moreover, an NIH official says that a "limited experiment" was conducted in order to test if "spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor."

Fauci has repeatedly denied any NIH money went to such research in Wuhan, yet his organization has actually given millions of dollars to the EcoHealth Alliance, which funnelled at least $600k to Wuhan coronavirus research. NIH is now accusing EcoHealth Alliance of not being transparent about the work that was taking place. EcoHealth Alliance violated the terms of its grant conditions, which stipulated that they had to report if research increased the viral growth of a pathogen by tenfold, when they failed to submit their required fifth and final progress report at the end of its grant period in 2019. Remember this is the same EcoHealth Alliance whose President, Peter Daszak, was conveniently assigned to head up the WHO Origin analysis and was allowed to publish an unsupported paper in the Lancet that stated it must have come from a zoonotic source ( Thought of the Day - July 21 2021 - Where Did It Come From? ).

Fauci has testified before Congress stating multiple times that NIH does not fund GOF research in Wuhan - it now looks like Fauci has been lying to Congress.

Adding to Fauci's woes is a new book by Sharri Markson entitled What Really Happened In Wuhan. A quote from the author says: "Fauci’s public persona as a cautious, careful medical professional is contradicted by his central role in kickstarting exceptionally fraught gain-of-function research in the United States after the ban introduced in the Obama era, [it was rescinded in late 2017] along with his role in funding coronavirus research in China in unsafe laboratories. Laboratories that intelligence agencies suspect may have sparked the pandemic"

In September, leaked documents obtained by private research group DRASTIC "completely contradict" claims made by both China and Fauci about the reality of GOF research being done inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology that may have caused the coronavirus pandemic, according to a former State Department COVID-19 investigator.

I guess all that is left is to figure out why Fauci, Peter Daszak, and others have so vehemently denied all of this up to this point. I guess only time will tell how deep this rabbit hole goes ( Thought of the Day - September 29 2021 - Welcome to the Matrix ).
