Thought of the Day - September 27 2021 - COVID Kits

The WHO had a recent article concerning the Uttar Pradesh State in India. The state was congratulated for initiating a house-to-house program across almost 100,000 villages in 75 districts in India’s most populous state (population 230 million.) Back in May, the state government deployed over 140 thousand teams from the health department to ensure all rural areas were covered - an incredible effort, with amazing results.

Each monitoring team had two members, who visit homes in villages and remote hamlets to test everyone with symptoms of COVID-19 using Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) kits. Those who test positive were isolated and they, along with their contacts, given a medicine kit with advice on disease management.

The one thing on which the WHO article failed to elaborate was what was in those so-called "medicine kits". Given we have been told there is no treatment for COVID other than life-sustaining oxygen or inflammation-retarding steroids one has to wonder.

Welp, here we go. The kits contain:

  • Pulse Oximeter

  • Digital Thermometer

  • Paracetamol tablets (15)

  • Vitamin C tablets (30)

  • Multivitamin tablets with Zinc (30)

  • Vitamin D3 tablets (2 packs)

  • Ivermectin 12mg tablets (10)

  • Doxycycline 100mg tablets (10)

  • Three-ply face masks (5)

  • N-95 Masks (2)

  • Sanitizer (100ml)

  • Alcohol-based Wipes (1 box with 20 plies)

  • Gloves (2 pairs)

Oh, and guess what? All provide for less than the cost of a single dose of an mRNA vaccine.

So what has been the response to this report? Well in Canada, quite predictably, absolutely nothing ( Thought of the Day - September 9 2021 - Theoretical Theraputics ).

Elsewhere in the world, quite a bit. For example, in Latin America they have rapidly followed suit: El Salvadore, Guatemala and Bolivia now have very similar deliveries.

With our fourth wave now in progress and associated deaths still on the rise, it kinda makes you wonder.

Cheers

Cliff
