Thought of the Day - September 9 2021 - Theoretical Theraputics

I have written extensively about this before, but here we are, eighteen months into this pandemic and we still have no therapeutics for COVID in use here in Canada ( Thought of the Day - August 17 2021 - The Non-treatment of COVID ) - sorry, while important, the use of steroids, antibiotics and oxygen to sustain life really don't count.

Down in the US the quasi-celebrity Joe Rogan (you may know of him from: NewsRadio, UFC, or getting Elon Musk stoned on his podcast) has recently been in the news. He dared to declare in the public that he used a cocktail of therapeutics to fight his recent COVID-19 infection (just as many US doctors have advised the rich and famous to do for some time now). His list included: IV drips of vitamins D and C, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), Ivermectin, and monoclonal antibodies. And guess what got the media attention? Not a discussion of the novel monoclonal antibodies treatment, or the sensible top-up of vitamins C and D, but rather the innocuous Ivermectin - you know the stuff that is way less toxic than aspirin ( Thought of the Day - June 23 2021 - India Does the Right Thing ).

All I can say is, good for Joe! If nothing else, this might, just might, start a discussion in Canada concerning viable treatments, from the many being used extensively around the world. The ones that Canada should have already studied (Canadian trials were started on a number of them but no findings were ever published: Health Canada COVID-19 Drugs Vaccines Treatments Authorized Trials), in the hope of saving a few lives.

Cheers

Cliff
