Back in May, after the first wave subsided in many countries, we discussed which countries & territories who had had cases were now COVID-Free ( Thought of-the Day - May 22 - COVID Free ). At that time twenty-four locales had turned the tide and had no "Active Cases". Since then many more locations were also added to the list of locations that have seen COVID cases for the first time ( Thought of the Day - November 13 - The Last Island Hideouts ).
Today, Macao, Monserrat and New Caledonia are the only ones still left from the May recovered-list that are still COVID free. The Marshall Islands, Samoa and Vanuatu, that were much more recently infected, have bounced back. These six are the only places around the world with no active cases.
Buts lets see which countries have nearly eliminated (six or less active cases): Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Brunei, Cambodia, Caribbean Netherlands, Dominica, Isle of Man, Fiji, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Pierre Miquelon, Laos, Wallis and Futuna and Western Sahara all have very low number of cases, some of whom may be "Long Haulers".
Unfortunately, only the Yukon and NWT have no active cases here in Canada at the moment. PEI (5) and Nunavut (3) have faltered since May.
The main message, as well that as it is hard to eliminate, unless you make wholesale changes you are very likely to get infected again.
Cheers
Cliff
